Family-of-Origin Life Coaching

Family-of-Origin Life Coaching clients are typically adults (ages 18-30) seeking to transform their lives and realize their highest potential. I received advanced training in family therapy under the supervision of Dr. J. Patrick Dorgan - who studied with Jay Haley, founder of Strategic Family Therapy. The theory proposes that many of the effective or ineffective patterns we utilize in our daily life interactions are often acquired, directly or indirectly, from our family-of-origin. 

The coaching is designed to assist individuals who find themselves continuously repeating patterns in their life without success. In some instances, there is a pattern of behavior or decision-making leading to setbacks and poor outcomes. In other instances, there are repeated patterns of relational challenges in family, social, or professional settings. These patterns can hinder progress, undermine confidence, and result in the questioning of their ability to achieve in the future.

Family-of-Origin Coaching develops a plan to achieve the following goals:

• understanding the impact of family patterns on current strategies and decision-making
• improving communication in relationships
• reinforcing current practical and effective life skills
• promoting accountability, responsibility, and resilence
• examining the individual's philosophy on the purpose of life

The ultimate goal of Family-of-Origin Life Coaching is to enhance an individual’s quality of life by identifying learned family patterns that may no longer serve them and developing healthier ways of thinking, relating, and moving toward the life they want to create.
